1 Year Down

Well, our first anniversary approaches.  This Sunday, in fact.  I can’t believe it’s been a whole year!  Lowell’s mom told us last night that the first year is the hardest.  As far as I’m concerned then, the rest of our lives should be a breeze!  This year was pretty darn good – sure, we had some squabbles, but they were normal we-‘re-still-adjusting type arguments.

My friend Bob emailed me today to wish us well and asked if we went with paper or clocks.  Paper, of course, being the traditional first-anniversary gift, and clocks being the modern equivalent.  In a funny coincidence, we both got each other a clock or sorts – he bought me a watch, and I got him a metronome (he’s a musician).  I hadn’t even considered what tradition called for, so this was totally unplanned, but like many things in life, a happy accident. J

In other wedding news, the beautiful Rania (below) got married last weekend.  Congratulations, Rania!

Rania's Newsletter

We're in the big-time now! Lowell and I were mentioned in Rania's latest newsletter:

Aimee & Lowell's Wedding

The Diva Soma Dance Company surprised one of their troupe members by importing me all the way from L.A. to Omaha, Nebraska for Aimee and Lowell's wedding. Needless to say, they were shocked.

If you ever need to plan something really sneaky, these girls are experts. They planned the whole thing, flew me out, arranged accommodations and a welcoming party, and snuck me into the wedding reception without anyone finding out. It was great. The look on Aimee and Lowell's face was priceless.

I guess you could call me a Wedding Crasher..

How cool is that?!?

Some photos...

Here are some pics from our honeymoon in Puerto Vallarta...preceded by some of me getting ready for the wedding, a couple of Lowell freaking out on the way home from the wedding, and of the dogs chilling out the day after the wedding... Enjoy! We certainly did...

Hola! Back from Mexico

Lowell and I made it back from Puerto Vallarta late last night - very late, thanks to a rain storm in Denver that delayed our flight by hours. Oh well, we made it home safe and sound, with an anxious Ryker waiting to greet us.
Mexico was awesome! We swam and tanned, rented jet skis, got massages, kayaked, Lowell went para-sailing (not me - too scared of heights!), I did yoga on the beach, and we both got extremely sea-sick on our last day during the 7-hour boat tour out to the Marietta's Islands. That part was not so fun, but it was probably exactly what we needed to prepare us to leave the resort - otherwise, we may have never wanted to come home! The Dreams Resort & Spa is a wonderful place - all inclusive, including drinks, food, taxes, tips, and tons of activities. We highly recommend it and definitely want to return someday...but I think we'll skip the boat tours!

What a Beautiful Day

Well, we made it through the wedding! Thank God, it was a beautiful day. We were sweating the weather for a while the week before, since it rained constantly. But Saturday was wonderul - warm and sunny. The wedding went wonderfully...from what I remember! I was a little nervous and calmed myself down with a few glasses of white wine. Fortunately millions of pictures were taken and our friend Tony Hathaway was there with video camera in hand! I wasn't sure why it was so important to all my Diva Soma friends that the event be on film...until the reception started. That's when the girls surprised Lowell and I with the best wedding present ever! A special performance by Rania, our favorite belly dancer all the way from L.A.! The pics of my face are priceless! I was in total shock. Those crazy Diva Soma girls! ;) I love them so. :) :)
It was truely a day to remember. Lowell and I are so happy that so many of our friends and family blessed us with their presence or their thoughts and prayers. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect day.
Stay tuned for photos...

It's Raining, It's Pouring

A big "Thank You" to the wonderful women who planned and hosted bridal showers for me in the past few weeks.  We had a fabulous couples shower on July 15, put together by my Maid-of-Honor, Meghan Fitzpatrick, with help from Erin and Amanda.  Meghan also did an amazing job throwing me a bachelorette party this past weekend on July 22.  It was hosted by Christina Kadlec and attended by many of the Diva Some belly dancers.  Let's just say we had a good time!  Thanks, Meghan - you're the best!

Paulette Pentecost, whom I work with at AFWA, hosted a bridal luncheon on July 25 at That's Amore in Bellevue.  In attendance were many of the wonderful women that I know from work.  It was very lovely - we were in the "Tuscany" room, which has a grapevine motif - very fitting for our vineyard wedding.  Thanks, Paulette!

Lowell and I received many beautiful gifts, and we are very grateful to have so many kind and generous friends!  Thanks, Everyone!
